Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, the reasons it may be used, and the limited circumstances in which another party may receive it. By continuing to use Webb County Criminal History, you agree to the practices stated here.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or place entered into a search tool is sent to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its result. Webb County Criminal History does not keep a local log of those search terms.

Messages and Contact Submissions

When an email is sent to us, the message may be retained long enough to address it and maintain the related correspondence. It is not shared outside our organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

Standard technical information can be recorded when a visitor opens a page:

  • The device's assigned IP address
  • Browser name and version
  • Operating system and device category
  • Visited pages and time spent on them
  • A referring website, when one exists
  • The time of each request

Cookies and Analytics

Small cookie files and analytics services help measure traffic, popular pages, and site performance in aggregate. Browser controls can reject cookies. Blocking them may change the way certain features respond.

What We Do With This Data

Collected technical data is used only for ordinary site operations and analysis.

  • Operating the website and improving load speed
  • Routing a query to the selected search partner
  • Measuring which reference pages visitors use
  • Finding faults and resolving technical problems
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect general interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

We do not build, host, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The published material describes how to reach the Webb County Sheriff's Office, the criminal courts, the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Records Division, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into a report about another person, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies supply the site's search boxes. Their privacy policies, retention periods, and sharing rules apply to information entered there. We do not set those practices. A visitor should review the provider's terms before sending a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to Webb County offices, Texas agencies, court portals, legal resources, advertisers, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this domain, the destination's privacy policy governs. Review that policy before providing personal data.

Advertising companies may use their own technology to follow activity across websites. Such tracking occurs on systems outside our control.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal information is not sold. Limited data can be disclosed to:

  • A search partner processing a submitted query
  • Analytics providers measuring use and performance
  • Advertising networks serving content on the site
  • A government or law-enforcement body acting under valid legal process

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable, commonly used safeguards protect the limited data handled by the site. No online system is perfectly secure, however, so uninterrupted protection or the complete absence of a breach cannot be guaranteed.

Users Under 18

The service is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If such data is identified, it may be requested for deletion.

Your Data Rights

Rights vary by residence and the law that applies. Texas Government Code Chapter 552 governs public requests to Texas government bodies, while Government Code Chapter 411 limits dissemination of state criminal-history information. Neither statute turns this private reference site into a government records custodian. Other applicable privacy law may permit a person to:

  • Request access to personal data held about them
  • Ask that inaccurate data be corrected
  • Seek deletion where the law provides that right
  • Opt out of certain processing when applicable

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised as practices or legal requirements change. A replacement version will appear here with an updated effective date.
